ABOUT

Penn Student Design is a collection of both Undergraduate and Graduate students that are experienced and well-trained in graphic design, illustration, and web development.

We work with all types of clients, both inside and outside of the Penn community. We design posters, logos, marketing packages, brochures, layouts for publications, fully coded websites and websites on SquareSpace, WordPress, Wix and Muse.

LEADERSHIP ROLES

Each director has their own responsibilies that are paramount to the overall operations of the buisness. These roles are filled internally, as PSA strives to promote growth and promotion opportunites for all of its students. Executive Director

The Executive Director supports Penn Student Design by hiring and training new designers, serving as liaison between campus groups and greater Philadelphia organizations with graphic designers, connecting clients to a talented student designer, and providing the team of designers with opportunities to develop their skills.

• Strong communication and customer service skills are required as this position communicates with the PSD team and prospective clients.
• Fluency in graphic design, web design, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator are required for this position.
• Must be reliable, organized, responsible, able to delegate tasks, able to act quickly and meet deadlines, responsive to email, and a self-starter who can take initiative.

• Leadership: developed through guiding the employees and business toward a common goal.
• Time Management: gained through learning how to accomplish academic and director responsibilities in a timely and organized manager for the duration of your employment.
• Fiscal Management: gained through tracking and building revenue, following a budget, and making responsible spending decisions.

Marketing Director

The Director of Marketing supports Penn Student Design by archiving and organizing Penn Student Design’s print and web products, marketing Penn Student Design through social media and print ads, and working with designers to produce creative marketing materials for Penn Student Design.

• Strong communication and customer service skills are required as this position communicates with prospective clients.
• Fluency in graphic design, web design, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator are required for this position.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Graphic Designers or Web Designers 

The Graphic Designer supports Penn Student Design by using their graphic designer, illustration, and web development skills to create products for the Penn community. PSD is looking for graphic designers with experience in designing websites to create products for the Penn community as well businesses in Philadelphia.

• Must be fluent in Photoshop and InDesign.
• For Web Developers applicants: developing websites on WordPress, SquareSpace and basic knowledge of HTML is preferred.
• Previous experience in designing for clients a plus, but not necessary.
• Must be open to suggestions and critique of your work, willing to work with clients to create their desired outcome, flexible with hours, reliable and hardworking.
• Position is open for both undergraduate and graduate students. However, you must currently be enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania.
