2020 – 2021 PSA Bartending Director Team & Bartenders  

ABOUT

The history of PSA Bartending Services can be traced back to the early 1970’s. During this decade, what was then known as the Bartending School began to prosper at the University of Pennsylvania, and Penn students began learning the tricks of the bartending trade.

Over the past four decades, PSA Bartending Services has evolved into an entity that instructs over sixty students every year and offers bartending service to all sorts of events within Philadelphia. Our bartenders are trained in mixology, alcohol safety training, customer handling and business etiquette. Our bartenders have also offered their services for galas, weddings, university events and private parties within Philadelphia.

PSA Bartending teaches Mixology and TIPs certification courses at the University each semester.

LEADERSHIP ROLES

Each director has their own responsibilies that are paramount to the overall operations of the buisness. These roles are filled internally, as PSA strives to promote growth and promotion opportunites for all of its students. Executive Director

The PSA Bartending Executive Director supports the agency by hiring and training the bartenders, booking the bartenders at events, creating payment contracts, working with clients, and teaching some of the mixology courses.

Perferred Experience

  • Must have successfully completed the PSA Bartending and TIPS Courses, as well as passed the PSA Bartending Exam.
  • Must be reliable, have strong work ethic, be organized, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and behave professionally when working with bartenders and students attending the courses.

Key Acquired Skills

  • Leadership: developed through guiding the employees and business toward a common goal.
  • Time Management: gained through learning how to accomplish academic and director responsibilities in a timely and organized manager for the duration of your employment.
  • Fiscal Management: gained through tracking and building revenue, following a budget, and making responsible spending decisions.

Programming Director

The PSA Bartending Director of Programming supports the agency by scheduling the training courses, teaching mixology courses, and marketing the courses.

Perferred Experience

  • Must have successfully completed the PSA Bartending and TIPS Courses, as well as passed the PSA Bartending Exam.
  • Must be reliable, have strong work ethic, be organized, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and behave professionally when working with bartenders and students attending the courses.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Staff Bartender 

PSA Bartender supports the function of this agency by staffing bartending events scheduled by the PSA Bartending Executive Director.

  • Serve drinks to clients at events according to state law and TiPS certification guidelines.
  • Engage with clients at bartending events in a professional and friendly manner that promotes and positively represents PSA Bartending.
  • Utilize effective customer service skills. Help set up and clean up (as needed) at the events.
  • Select the events they are available to work and show up to those events on time.
  • Comply with the dress code requested by the client.

Acquired Skills

  • Mixology: Bartenders will learn advanced mixology techniques at agency meetings
  • Interpersonal Skills: Communication skills are vital for providing professional and exceptional performance in the line of a bartender
  • Time Management & Strategic Prioritization: Excellent time management and prioritization skills are critical for handling open bars and useful for other lines of work
